The chickie is still damp from the egg. Over the next few hours, its feathers will fluff up. I'll post photos on Facebook when it is all cute and fluffy-looking.
I asked my son what we should name our first chook, although I did point out we don't know if it is a boy or a girl yet.
He suggested "Egg-cellent". I think that's a great name, don't you?

Oh how gorgeous! I love cute little chickie pics. We had restricted ours from overpopulating the runs this year. Last breeding season one of the girls went AWOL while out free ranging one day and came back 3 weeks later with 11 little chicks.
