The first of our chicken eggs has started to crack!

It's so exciting!

The first of the chookie eggs in our incubator has started to crack - and it's one of our own eggs, from our own chookies!

A tiny beak! Can't wait for our cute new arrivals.

I'm so thrilled.

I'll be posting updates and photos of our chookies as they arrive (hopefully more than one!) over at the Facebook Hazeltree Farm page. There's a link to the Facebook page in the right hand column if you want to see updates and watch the process over the next few days.

The photos should be publicly viewable, for those who are not on Facebook. I'm just charging up our (very old) camera batteries now.

I feel like singing "Happy Birthday!" Maybe I will!

Have a lovely day!

Fantastic (as I sing Happy Birthday along with you) We hatch our Barnvelder & Australorps but we like to do it the natural way under our hens. Our strike rate can be a little lower but I prefer them to free range with their Mums. I have just had 11 hatch but of course we don't get to see it in as much detail as you do in an incubator. Good Luck!
